I am human flesh no more! I have been transmuted into the physical embodiment of a smile! My heart has done the grinch thing and burst forth from it's cage!

FIRST OF ALL if I was ever going to give a book 5 stars for the cover alone it would be this one. Look at my beautiful babies! Look at their eyes! Look at her holding a stake! Look at him pulling off her mask! I can't pretend that Buffy / Angel is the best romance of all time, but it is without a doubt my favorite romance of all time and this gorgeous cover? It is too much for me.

But also the story! How do I encapsulate the sheer pleasure of reading NEW Buffy content. I rambled about this in my review of Vol. 1, but it's still true! It is a dream. I feel like I am watching new episodes of the show again but the magic is that it is NOTHING like the plot of the show. It is simultaneously so familiar and so fresh. I love all the eras of Buffy, but my heart has always been very attached to the high school era, and getting to return to it and explore all the countless what-ifs... it's magical.

There's something to be said about pacing... perhaps. The plot in this collection moves like lightning. We're served up "episodes" of story in between periods of character development. I could imagine another comic book series where the actions of issue 6 are spread across 5 issues. This is not play-by-play storytelling, it's "here's what you need to know." That's neither here nor there, it just is.

The shining characters of this installment are Giles, Jenny (!), Willow, Xander, Buffy. I appreciate the focus on the Scoobies and seeing who they are, how they relate to one another, what their relationships are like. I think the first installment was kind of like "LOOK! Everyone is here! They are the same but different!" and now that we've established that we can just get to the storytelling. It's so fun, it's such a joy, I love Buffy Summers so much and I am very much enjoying these versions of Xander and Willow.

Anyways I'm happy! BOOM did good!

Still an interesting story but changing the artist was a dumb move. After the more detailed and pretty art of volume 1 this volume was sadly underwhelming. I would have preferred it either to be the art style from the start or not change in the middle of the story. Now I’m just missing the art of Dan Mora and not fully enjoying the plot…

I really like this even though some characters are way different than what I am used to, so it's weird. And Angel... What's his place here?

Ugh. I hated the story and I hated the art. I really enjoyed the first two volumes but this one fell short for me.

The story was good, but the art work was really lacking. Made all their faces look really off. It was a bit distracting, and very different from the other books.

Art is amazing;

Interesting choice to vamp Xander, and link him to a sire. Glad to see appearance from Jenny. What the damn is Robin’s issue what a creepy dude. This being said, Angel’s first appearance, followed immediately by Spikey being stabbed with a dagger. Very annoying if they kill off Spike so early in the reboot.

Good banter.
