I fell in love with this book; with the characters, the settings and situations, and even the layout of the words.
Bonjour Tristesse is a short story written in two parts about a young girl traveling to the French Riveria with her father and his lover. Our protagonist, Cécile, with her own lover in the south, begins her holiday with nothing in mind besides the simple intention to enjoy herself. Her vacation began as any other, relaxing while simply enjoying the presence of her family, herself, and some romance-but things quickly start to dissolve around her with the introduction of another character into her life, and mainly into her mind.

Maybe because I could imagine myself as the protagonist and have been in her shoes (Only because I was also an overthinking, sex-fueled, angsty teens lol), maybe because the author described everything so clearly and beautifully, and maybe because the story was simply very good, but I fell in love with this book. First time in YEARS that a book has made me excited. This book got me out of a reading slump, and I am so appreciative of Françoise Sagan, Cécile, and the girl who recommend this book on TikTok lol.

Enjoyed the writing style. Anticlimactic ending. I have read too many books set in the summer, in France, with an atmosphere shrouded in misplaced desire and deceit. Stiff competition.
