This is one of my favourite books of all time.
Jude's struggle with depression and anxiety mirrors my own so well and at times I really felt like I'm reading my own thoughts. The struggles were depicted so, so well, and in such a way that I really felt Jude's pain.

Faron is just.. Faron is an incredible character. He is patient, and understanding with Jude, but he also challenges him and helps him grow.

They listen to each other and they communicate their struggles. It's such a beautiful, gentle and sweet love.

I was deeply touched by this book. It represents mental health in such an authentic way. I struggle myself, and this book was hard because it was so true in so many ways. I would honestly recommend this to partners of people who struggle with mental health concerns.

Even though I struggled a lot to get through this book, I ended up liking the story and deeply respecting people who suffer from chronic depression... Jude's struggle... well... I can't and never want to understand his life... He needed someone calm but who would give him security without judgment... Who would take care of him and make some decisions for him but also respect him as a human being with this disease and Faron does exactly that. Faron is a difficult character to evaluate, because he is very apathetic... and although they work, the book is a little boring because we have 2 people who are so apathetic, but for different reasons.

I liked the ending and the way Roan didn't "cure" Jude's illness and trauma with love, but rather gave them hope and a way to live with her.

Not thinking how great your crush is, and not thinking about a future together, keeps this from being a romance. 75% of this story is the mc repeating how worthless he his. The great naration kept me listening, but I give up.

I find it so odd how these covers never seem to look anything like the people in the book - the main character IS pale with red hair but his hair is long enough to braid.

Anyway - I really enjoyed both characters. Faron was maybe a little too perfect but he was a good contrast with Jude. I was expecting this to be super angsty but it really wasn't.
