The story was good but it really felt to me like it needed an editor
adventurous hopeful informative inspiring reflective tense fast-paced

Fascinating account of curators and art historians employed first to minimize wartime impact on cultural artifacts and buildings and then to locate and rescue art works stolen by the Nazis. Inspiring and engaging. A terrific book.
informative inspiring fast-paced

An often forgotten about story of the Second World War, this interesting tale is just as choppy as the actual mission itself. Over the course of 400 odd pages, this book is filled with repeating statements, and also many letters from soldiers to their wives. Despite being a choppy read, a story that should be recognized by the world, as even when the world is at war, someone needs to preserve the culture.

Ah, at last! I have finally finished this novel. I will be honest I did start and stop this novel only to restart and stop this many times. If you are a lover of history this is a great choice, I myself am more keen on historical fiction. I must have been in the right mindset this last time because it finally grabbed my attention enough for me to finish it. I do believe this is a good mixture of facts with storytelling. The story itself is incredible and you can’t help but be in awe of these men.
challenging dark informative slow-paced

Very fascinating reading, but very heavy emphasis on the "narrative" in narrative nonfiction.

I learned some interesting things but am just not enjoying this on audio.

There is a superb book in there somewhere. It was not the subject as such, the subject is riveting, but the way it is presented. Almost like reading a novel at times.
