A nice, "dark" tale from Lemony Snicket that is both a cute tale for kids to help them deal with the dark, but also make them wonder what secrets the dark holds.
The Dark is creepy and a little bit scary but it is also a little bit comforting. An enigma just like Lemony Snicket. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about Laszlo and the Dark.
My current fave illustrator, teamed up with the always delightful Lemony Snicket. There was much squee when this came in, and I'm already planning storytime just for this book. So wonderfully awesome.
Ooh, this one is spooky & suspensful. Laszlo notices that the dark comes out at night, but mostly sticks to the basement and closets during the daytime. When his nightlight goes out, the dark calls out to him, asking Laszlo to go to the basement. In the end, Laszlo makes peace with the dark.
Well told story about not being afraid of the dark. The illustrations were spot on and it had a good message.
Laszlo is afraid of the dark, but one night that changes when the dark pays him a visit.
Kids really enjoyed this book. They were appropriately scared in the right places and both were not overly scared at the end. And when I turned out the light they both yelled, "Hi Dark!"
Fun story with great pictures.

Classic Klassen illustrations. They almost overpower the text. I love the dark endpapers the boy with the flashlight and it's light illuminating the cover page. "Laszlo was afraid of the dark." However, he is perfectly polite, greeting the dark in it's basement every morning. One night the dark visits him and show's him something, and the dark "never bothered him again." On re-reading it I think I'll give it a 4.5. A simple, but satisfying story. 4/4/13
