✨ forbidden - sneaking around

Blair has always had a thing for Camden Fields her brother Knox’s best friend. But Camden has never shown interest in Blair because he knows she is off limits. Tired of her overprotective little brother Blair doesn’t let Cam push her away with this time. But she can only stay his secrets for so long. Fighting his doubts and not wanting to risk losing his friendship can Cam overcome himself to be the man for Blair?

After getting so many sneak peaks and tension between Blair and Cam from Playing Hard to get (Knox & Joanna) I couldn’t wait to get their point of view and it did not disappoint. We have lots of steamy tension and when it finally snaps is it hot. We have the forbidden ness and the longing of wanting someone off limits. I love that college setting and getting glimpses of Know and Joanna since the timeline goes with that book. Seeing the same scenes from Blair and Cams point of view was so good.

Blair was such a strong heroine who knew exactly what she wanted and she wasn’t going to let him deny it any long when it was clear he wants her too. But Cam struggles with his self worth a lot in this book. Due to his childhood and how he lets others make him feel. He needed Blair to push to better himself and find who he is.

I love all the sneaking around and I love a good grovel. I felt Cam frustrated me at times like any hard headed male would but I love that he opens himself up to be better, not just for Blair but also for himself. I love that there is some drama and angst but I love that it’s two character show fully want each other trying to navigate their feelings together.

This is such a fun world to be back in and I’m so excited for Ruby the final sibling to get her book.

*honest arc review*

I wasn't sure how this one was going to go, since I hate that whole "don't date my daughter / sister / whatever or I'll shoot you!" type trope. Thankfully it didn't end up that way at all, although if the brother had not been mellowed out by his own relationship recently, I wonder how it would have gone. Anyway, it was a relief that I didn't have to roll my eyes and sigh in exasperation after the big reveal.

I didn't mind this book but it was also just "okay", in my estimations. At least it had a plot and some ups and downs to keep me reading. It also had a good level of steam.
emotional hopeful

It's a swoony and sexy story that had me hooked! It's all about young love angst and drama, and it's set in a college football series, which adds an exciting backdrop. Blair, who is Knox's little sister, has a secret romance with Cam, Knox's best friend, and roommate. The story is filled with tension, emotions, and Cam's insecurities. Though the start was a bit slow, the chemistry between Blair and Cam was off the charts! Blair's unwavering love and determination were terrific, and the book nailed the brother's best friend trope. I can't wait for the next book in the series and eagerly anticipate what happens next!

This was quite a sweet read. The chemistry between Camden and Blair was good, the sex scenes were hot and well-written, and there were some really cute moments. Camden was very sweet to Blair and I found the conflict he felt over it led to some really solid angst that was entertaining to read. The drama in it made sense and it wasn’t too overplayed at all – and it was nice to see Camden going to therapy and working on himself.

It was just an easy read to be honest – it was the kind of book I could just plough through and I easily would have read it in one sitting if I hadn’t had real-life commitments. It was a lot of fun to read, although I will say it was perhaps a bit too long and I think some of it could have been trimmed down.

But overall it’s an entertaining, fun read that’s sexy and sweet with a little bit of angst – and a good example of the tropes it features.

I’m not a fan of the brother’s best friend trope, usually because it involves secrecy, lying, and an eventual hurtful face off. In this instance, the secrecy lasted almost the whole book!

Blair has a crush on Cam since Knox brought him to their house during her high school senior year. Now that she’s in college with them, she decides to take matters into her hands and chase Camden. Initially, Blair was presented as shy, but with the encouragement of her roommates, she turns aggressive and started on the warpath. Even when he repeatedly tells her his concerns, she brushes them off as inconsequential, which I felt was inconsiderate and disrespectful. She played games with Cam and I saw it as manipulative. At one moment, I felt she was calling the shots and Cam was just reacting and worrying.

During the story, Blair and Camden had a lot of hot and cold moments, mostly produced by Cam because he was, quite rightly so, worried about his best friend Knox’s reaction. Sometimes he’s worried about Knox finding out, others he’s possessive and jealous! On their own, Blair is a gentle, sweet girl, Cam is focused and chill. I loved them, and once they are together, they make a great couple, if only they get their issues sorted out.

The story was limited to what was happening between Cam and Blair, all the going back and forth on their relation. At one moment they were lying to everyone, roommates, teammates, etc. Not a fun way to live, and of course, it caused negative feelings on both.

The book didn’t hold my attention until over half of the story, when an issue of mental health was introduced. At this point is when I felt that the story had meat and purpose. Before it consisted mostly of sex marathons and cutesy banter between Blair and Cam.

This story happens simultaneously with Knox’s and Joanna’s story and I was glad to have moments when both characters show up. I also liked Ace, the second quarterback, who promises to be a cute boyfriend, hopefully in a future book

The writing was excellent, as I always expect from this author, but I expected more for the story between Blair and Camden.
