It was so exciting to finally read Blair and Cam’s book since we did get a bit of a tease in ‘Playing Hard to Get’

cute ‘n fun but my girl was too obssesed with him from the beginning 3⭐️

Currently 29% of the way through the book and this description of her dress is nearly enough for me to never pick up the book again.

“It’s strapless. White with little pink flowers scattered all over it. The top wraps around her tits and there’s a bow in the center of her chest.”

“There’s a matching tie around her waist, like a belt?”

“The skirt is fitted, ending with a ruffle at the hem, and it hits her about mid-thigh. She has on tan, strappy flat sandals”

Okay maybe the author was imagining a cute summery dress when writing this description, but all I can imagine is a horrifically bad dress inspired by my nans nightgown, or my 5 year old sisters princess dress up. Ruffles... I don't even wanna think about it. And the bows, not even one, two of them, and in my head they're obnoxiously large. This is more of a personal preference, but I despise strapless dresses. I know this isn't a deal breaker, but it will be all I can think about while she's wearing it.

The second book in Monica Murphy's The Players series. A brother's best friend sports romance, it was romantic, steamy, and angsty. The fact that this book takes place in the same time period as Knox and Joanna's Playing Hard To Get and that we get to see the two couples interact so frequently made me adore it even more.

Blair was a strong, confident woman who was never afraid to say what she desired or how she felt, often putting Cam in his place. She has so many great moments in the book. Cam was absolutely swoony. From the beginning, he was obsessive and protective of her. He's a calm guy, and I also appreciated the mental health representation.

Overall, I enjoyed it, and excited for the next one!

Thank you Monica and Valentine PR for sending me an ARC for an honest review!

This was soooo much fun!

(+)
- Got me out of my reading slump!
- Short chapters
- Blair and Cam's relationship was very cute, and for once I loved the third act breakup 'cause it felt in tune with the characters;
- The trope was so well done. I haven't read a brother's best friend that was like this before.

(-)
- The found family aspect that I usually really enjoy in this type of book was non-existent. That made me sad. I wish we had moments between Knox and Cam, as well as Blair and Johanna. Please, show me instead of telling me!
- Nothing happened throughout the book in their lives. Every scene's main goal was to develop their romance. I just need a bit more.

It was okay. Not my favorite Monica book, but not my least favorite. There seemed to lack a substantial plot aside from going back and forth. Blair also lacked depth imho. We get she’s strong and willful, but what does she do aside from run after Cam? I don’t think we even know what she majored in.

The brother’s best friend trope truly just gets me! This is probably my favorite Monica Murphy book I’ve ever read.
