Blair and Camden
Brother’s best friend.
This book takes place at the same time as Playing Hard to Get (with Knox and Jo).
I liked that Blair (adore that name, btw) had the guts to keep persuing Cam but eventually I was thinking she needs to just move on to the next guy already. I know there’s a lot to be said about the build up, but I just want them to get together asap. This was a slow burn.
🐝 was not my favorite pet name.
I prefer not to have 3rd act breakups but some are understandable.
Blair was awesome to know what she deserved and ask for it, even when it hurt her to do so.
We love a man who goes to therapy.
It’s been a few months since I read the 1st book in this series but I feel like it was way spicier than this one. I’d say this one was 3/5🔥.

Brother’s best friend, forbidden romance, and lots of sneaking around to prevent older brother from finding out about his best friend and sister together? Looks like Blair and Cam had some secrets to hide. The next book in the interconnected series, this book followed Cam and Blair as they navigated through secret crushes, steamy encounters that were plenty, as well as dealing with Knox (Blair’s older brother).
In the last book, we got to see glimpses of Blair and Cam, but in this book it really dove into what was really happening between them, especially with Blair’s long time crush on Cam. Since the moment Blair met Cam, she instantly felt an attraction towards him, but also seeing how kind, caring, and easy going he was with her older brother, and her family, she knew immediately she wasn’t going to get over Camden Fields. Based off the little snippets from the first book, I knew Blair had felt some type of way towards Cam, but this book highlighted just how much she wanted him. With the clear determination to make Cam finally hers, Blair was motivated to not only make Cam see her, but also show him all the ways they could be perfect together.
Cam was Knox’s best friend, and teammate, closest bond out of everyone, practically brothers so, you can imagine that Cam felt it was necessary to keep a distance from Blair, especially since Knox made it loud and clear NOT A SINGLE TEAMMATE WAS ALLOWED NEAR BLAIR! Well…that made it even more difficult considering that since Blair was now attending the same university as him and Knox, he got to see her a lot more frequently, and he also found Blair to be incredibly gorgeous and beautiful. Regardless of the strong attraction and lustful thoughts he had towards Blair, Cam didn’t want to betray Knox’s trust and potentially hurt Blair if they were to ever get involved. (Sigh) so many conflicting feelings, and yet it didn’t stop from Cam feeling protective and wanting Blair all for himself.
The tension between Cam and Blair was more of a back and forth kind of thing. Blair took the initiative and made it clear she wanted Cam, but with Cam feeling at odds over his feelings for Blair, but not wanting to lie to Knox, it felt like he was being pulled into two different directions. I will say that for Blair to actively put the moves on Cam whether it was a flirty comment or “small” touches here and there, it proved to be effective in pushing Cam to do something haha. In a way there was also a bit of angst with the way Cam was usually like, “if we get together, I’ll be bad for you, but I also can’t stop thinking about you, blah, blah,” but with more stolen moments with Blair, Cam finally went after what he wanted… Blair, "Blair, I told myself to stay away from you, But I couldn't. I can't." "I can't stop thinking about you." The absolute need, want, and desperation coming from Cam was noticeable in his scenes with Blair, and dang I was enjoying it.
The spice in this book was of course great especially with the way Monica Murphy wrote both Blair and Cam. Cam was originally known to be the one who occasionally hooked up with women over the course of his time being at school, but when Blair came into the picture, she became his sole focus. Blair didn’t have much experience (according to her) when it came to sex so, when she had the chance to finally get her moment with Cam, she took it and oh boy did she feel all the excitement and desire coursing through her whenever Cam was around. Cam was usually also calm, to himself, and guarded, but with Blair he was gradually opening himself up both emotionally and physically. When I tell you that Cam was busting out his commands and dirty talk to Blair, mmmmm yes! I was loving it! Also, kudos to Blair for showing Cam she wasn’t all “innocent” as he perceived her to be because, Blair was equally down and dirty to match Cam’s sexual appetite *wink.
Along the storyline of Cam and Blair’s relationship going from secretly getting together to moving forward, it also expanded on Cam’s background. Cam’s journey from the beginning to the end of the story involved growth one in which he worked on himself towards his mental and physical health. Cam dealt with some past negative memories from his parent’s toxic marriage, and that greatly affected the way he viewed relationships as a whole. Not to mention, Cam dealt with feeling unworthy of being with Blair and the possibility of not being good enough to make it into the NFL draft. The fact that Cam later was able to seek out help for his mental health and going to therapy was a great part to add as it showed that even being an athlete it’s vital to work on the mental aspect of one’s health.
Blair and Cam’s story was filled with lots of steamy moments, with some equally positive growth between the both of them. There was also a bit of angst and brooding attitude from Cam occasionally, but he was charming, kind, and lovable. I really liked seeing Cam finally came to terms that with himself and working on bettering his mental health. I also really enjoyed Blair’s character, she was sassy, fun, and determined to show Cam she wasn’t backing down without making it known she wanted HIM! Of course we got to see some of my faves from the previous book, Knox and Joanna, yay! This was a fairly easy read for me with great tropes from brother’s best friend, forbidden romance, sports romance, and some spicy scenes. Overall, this was a great book, Cam and Blair had great chemistry together, they were sweet yet also had a tendency to bring out the dirty talk in each other haha but also just exploring one another’s sexual pleasures which was healthy for their relationship. I really loved the epilogues and seeing how everything turned out for both Cam and Knox and of course, more romance and bliss for Cam and Blair, it was amazing! Definitely am curious to see if there will be another book and who will be the next couple… my guess is Ruby (Knox and Blair’s little sister) and maybe… Ace (backup quarterback).
It's a swoony and sexy story that had me hooked! It's all about young love angst and drama, and it's set in a college football series, which adds an exciting backdrop. Blair, who is Knox's little sister, has a secret romance with Cam, Knox's best friend, and roommate. The story is filled with tension, emotions, and Cam's insecurities. Though the start was a bit slow, the chemistry between Blair and Cam was off the charts! Blair's unwavering love and determination were terrific, and the book nailed the brother's best friend trope. I can't wait for the next book in the series and eagerly anticipate what happens next!
I would highly recommend this book to everyone who loves to read a sweet and passionate, University romance. I completely loved the supporting characters even more in this book. Perfection
