I've been enjoying memoirs lately, and this one is great. The author writes with humor, pain, and candor. It will leave you laughing and considering new perspectives.

Not for me but good that it exists I guess. The author is too millennial to function (this is not the reason it’s not for me, but it didn’t help)
This swings wildly from two stars to five stars. It is compulsively readable, written in an almost too friendly style clearly by someone not in my generation, feeling like an Instagram story - 30 seconds of not quite enough info, not a deep dive, but a snippet that entices, informs, confuses, enlightens. I couldn't put it down and found it fascinating, even with the asides that come across as screaming privileged but knowing it, woke but knowing it, humble but knowing it, you get the idea. A very interesting look at sexuality (hers and in general), dating, what it means to be bisexual, but also touching on gender fluidity, being nonbinary and/or transgender, misogyny, white supremacy, patriarchy, womanhoood, and so much more. Everyone should read it but also, ymmv.
I’m not a huge fan of memoirs in general, I tend to get annoyed at the comedy/jokes/at-times-preachiness of them. But still giving this 4 stars because it was good! Offered a lot of interesting insights about sexual identities but is also about more than just that. The author is very honest about her shortcomings in the past and just simply not knowing things and shared about how she came to learn about social justice topics/gender&sexuality fluidity/relationships/etc at diff times in her life.
I really enjoyed this essay collection. Jen Winston's writing voice is friendly and chatty; I often felt like she was in the room telling me about her life. It was also surprisingly more thoughtful about sexuality, gender, race, class, and more than I'd expected (knowing nothing about her and expecting pithy essays!) I would definitely read more from her in the future!
