The second book in this series did what I love so much about the REd Rising series, which is it opened up the world... extremely. In the first book we follow our main character and the humans fighting for their lives against constant alien warfare on a planet called detritus. In book two, we see our main character leave this planet and get to know what is beyond her previous borders. There’s an entire universe out there. A universe with complex politics, alien species, and a whole new cast of characters. This is definitely the most alien focused book i’ve ever read?

I am giving this book three stars, because I kind of missed the previous cast of book one. I still think the writing and characterization of our main character, Spensa, is strong and I liked the newer editions but I missed our crew of Skyward flight. This book had a lot more action sequences in it than the first (so that’s saying something) -- and I find action sequences harder to follow along when reading vs. watching. I will still be continuing the series.

it took me two months to read this but i’m finally done
i liked this a lot less than the first one and i think that’s why it was hard for me to get through. skyward is like my favorite book and this one didn’t have a lot of the features that made skyward my favorite book. still well written and i liked the characters jsut didn’t feel the same

Its the second book in the series. I enjoyed skyward more but still a decent to good read. Skyward had more of a top gun in space feel. There is still some of that in Starsight. But Sanderson does introduce more spy elements as well as some Mass effect/star trek elements as well. Will continue on reading. What sanderson does well he continues to do well in this book.
