Well this was all over the place. A lot more story got in the way of the humor. New concepts thrown in for the heck of it. Kinda felt like Adams got tired over the course of the trilogy.

By the fifth book, it seems Adams really figured out how to structure these stories more like novels than series of bits and concepts. Not only does this book have a solidly formed plot, it also has a very unique take on the well-worn idea of parallel universes—the Hitchhiker’s Guide series has nothing if not interesting ideas.
