I did end up liking this more the the last fish one. Still got lukewarm feelings for the series tough. They are entertaining, sure but don't see why is has such massive fan base.

....what kind of ending is that

Well, that was a rather depressing ending. Wouldn't have minded it if the series had ended at book 4 instead.

A bit sadder than the other entries in the series, but I liked the sandwich-making bits.

I’m speechless. This book was darker than the previous 4. Nothing that I wanted to happen happened. Unexpected ending which means I should’ve seen it coming. I’m glad Ford got to see THE King and that Random didn’t have to live with her mistake— although how can you call anything a mistake. This book gives meaning to everything happens for a reason. Or to some similarly generic profound quote that I have applied a very different meaning to. Thanks for all the fish and also laughs, Adams.

I can't say I had enjoyed this book, but I can say how well the narration played in my head.

Well written and excellently crafted, this one has a bummer of an ending. 4/5 stars :)

This novel is cold and harsh. There is hardly any humor found within this book, which is what the whole Hitchhiker series is known for. The plot is very weird too, and the ending does not fit in with the tone of the series. Also no Marvin which is sad.

I was not surprised to read that Douglass Adams was in a bad headspace when writing this novel, and for that I feel bad giving it this low of a rating. Still though, this was not an enjoyable read. It’s even more tragic considering the fact that this was Adams’s last Hitchhiker novel.

I’m hopeful that Eoin Colfer’s continuation can possibly help course correct the series.
