Packed with mostly understandable explanations of biochemistry, how our body processes sugar, the research behind many chronic illnesses plaguing our population, and what we should change to live healthier lives. Interesting read that demands a verdict, and further research.

You may think that you are not addicted to sugar. I thought that I did not have a sugar addiction. Then I did #Whole30 in August 2013 and realised that I indeed had a sugar addiction.

Since the 1980's we have been told that fat is bad for us. Then the "low fat" craze happened.
I will admit that I bought into that lie, not knowing then it was a lie.
What happens when you take the fat out of food? It tastes awful. What makes it taste better. Yep Sugar.

Is sugar really that bad for us? I never use to think so, but since being on a Paleo journey I have learned that eliminating fat isn't the answer. Sugar is, and Gillespie expresses this in his book Sweet Poison.

Sweet Poison is a really easy read. It's not overly science-y which for the non science nerd makes it a whole lot easier to understand.

If you have to eliminate any type of food from your diet, then start with Sugar. Whether you are over weight or not, anyone and everyone would benefit without the sugar in their diet.

An EXCELLENT book about WHY sugar is bad for us, and exactly what it is about the sugar (fructose) that causes all the health problems. Well researched, written so the average person understands, and full of GREAT advice!!

When this book was released it seemed to be at the start of the anti sugar movement. The book does discuss some common thoughts that carbohydrates and sugar feed cancers and ill health which makes some sense. But the beat ups on other food plans Adkins and Keto just didn't sit well with me. Whilst I have followed neither myself I know people who have and have had a lot of success with them. I get that the author speaks from his personal experiences and research I just dont see the need to disparage other plans so much. It is a good starting tool for people to read when first considering quitting/cutting down on sugar but I would also suggest reading other books on this subject too. #goodreads #litsy #tea_sipping_bookworm #bookstagram #amazon #kindle

A little heavy on the biology lingo, but entertaining and SUPER informative! I plan to add this to my permanent collection and begin the task of eliminating fructose from my diet tout suite and it's all because of the info I learned from this book! A must-read for anyone who values their health and wellness ;)
