Fun, steamy, cute, excellent banter/character thoughts, more development than in the first one which I enjoyed.

I honestly don't know what took me so long to get started on this series, it's been on my radar for a while, but I'm so glad I finally took the plunge. It's delightful. I think I liked In Which Matilda Halifax Learns the Value of Restraint better than the first book, but only a little.
The characters and their dynamic just worked for me. I will never not love a grumpy hero. I blame it all on Jehu from Boston Jane: An Adventure. I also appreciated that while Christian is a grump, Margo isn't your typical sunshine. She’s spirited.
Other reasons to love this book: their relationship is established through letter-writing, multiple "my wife" moments, it features a bespectacled hero, and there's no third act break up.
Funniest part of the book: when Matilda is annoyed that none of the inns on their journey have only had one bed 😂
I've already started reading book number 3 and I'm pre-ordering Ne'er Duke Well!
