This book was a wonderment to read. There is no other way I can put it. It was like a Nollywood script. All over the place, you're not sure if you like it or not, but it somehow remains entertaining.
So many inconsistencies.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I read chief say "If I survive this, I will never let Rain go", but he had no problems with killing her to save himself. Bffr please 🙄
I can't believe they got married and I was seeing things like "they found love and happiness". Again, bffr! 😭
Jesus!

I felt my brain cells melting page after page. I'm so embarrassed to have not DNFed this book.

I really enjoyed this book. The suspense, betrayal, mystery, crime and deceit and also the talk about rape made it a must read for me.
The author explored these issues and gave us a masterpiece. Honestly, this is my first time reading a book set in Yenagoa and I must say that I am surprised as to how it felt like I know or have been to Yenagoa before, that’s how vivid and colorful the author’s descriptions were. Kudos to the author 🙌🏾

Set mainly in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state in Nigeria. This story follows a lady named Rain who after a traumatic experience, leaves home to live with relatives and make a better life for herself.
Rain has a great job and loving boyfriend until things start going wrong. This is a story of betrayal, love, lust, family and business.
The CEO of Edozie Express where Rain works has an underlying fear that underpins some of the events in the book.
I found it funny how religion and traditional medicine were intertwined.
Afenfia is known for introducing unusual names in his books and this one is not an exception. For readers of Mechanics of Yenagoa and Don’t Die on Wednesday, you will notice a return of a notorious reverend.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book with all its twists and turns. It was like a Nollywood movie. My favourite part was the poem at the start. I kept going back to read it.
