I skimmed ahead and saw there was a
cancer diagnosis
and had to dip out.

A delight to read. A beautiful story.
medium-paced

Cute pallet cleanser. Unknown to her, her boyfriend is married and when she finds out breaks up with him and is devastated. Never having close friends, she decides to pack it up and move to a city that she has never lived in. There she finds her tribe and build a cute little life there with a new love interest.

They say the best love stories end in tragedy, I concur

This was such a beautiful, gut-wrenching, awe-inspired read. I couldn’t stop crying for the life of me. I loved every character in this story, the way they all had a significant part to play and it came together so well. Deanna was My favorite, the way she genuinely saw Penelope for the person she is rather than what she portrays or allows others to see, she saw right through her & made it her business to make sure she knew she was worth it, that there is a Friend. Grant is in close 2nd, the way he loved & cared for Penelope has me tearing up even now. I will not spoil it but the ending was just perfect.

Melissa does an exceptional job of not only showing how a person lives with anxiety and grief, but how to work through the struggles each bring.
She also shows how everyone deserves to be loved. I highly recommend this book!!

The False Flat was a little… flat. It was a good story, it just could have been better. The characters were trying to be interesting and relatable but at the same time they felt so disconnected.

Recently, books have been hit or miss
I get hooked and then frustrated with the plot/writing, but this was Realistic in its pacing and well-developed side characters. Despite the heartbreaking yet beautiful moments, I particularly loved witnessing Penelope's growth throughout the book.

Thank you Montlake Publishing for providing the book through Netgalley for review purposes.

Oh my god. This book was OUTSTANDING.
I downloaded it randomly from KU as I needed a book with audio to listen to while I did other things, and I never ever expected it would be one of the best books I have read all year. Pen is everything. Grant is everything. The found family! I cried so hard toward the end, and I'm writing this with tear-stained cheeks and puffy eyes. 100/10. ♾️
