WHAT IN THE HOT MESS WAS THIS?!!!
Yet again another GREAT SERIES RUINED BY THE LAST BOOK. What in the actual fuck?!!! The first two books plus the novella was seriously the best YA series I’ve ever read, all for it to come crashing down with this garbage.
First off the writing and pacing was terrible. This shit was too repetitive. Seriously another trial? This was just straight up lazy ass writing. It was boring the first 65% where literally nothing happens. Kai ends up being such a cry baby and complaining the whole time. Did I love hearing his voice on audiobook? You bet your sweet ass I did. But where was the tough enforcer at?!! He was way too soft for me to the point it got annoying and his whole imagine centered around just paedyn.
The romance… or lack of (I should say) between Kai and Paedyn was non existent. I wanted more push and pull and not these “pretend” moments. I wanted so much more romance between these two and we barely get any of that until the very end.

The character assassination of poor sweet Kitt who didn’t want to become like his father but ends up becoming just like his father is so eye rolling. He thinks it’s a great idea to take a dose of the plague… himself… the king?!! Be fucking forreal like what?!! It felt more like “how to get rid of Kitt so Kai and Paedyn can be together” lazy ass writing. There was sooo much potential between the 3 of them but it just did not deliver.
Don’t even get me started on the incest plot twist bc I CANNOT. WHY?!! For shock value??? It was stupid, frustrating. It made no sense and….gross.
The plot twist of paedyn’s father and mother was boring and not original.
MAK DESERVED BETTER bc what the fuck was that?!! Another great character that went nowhere. He was barely in this book and sadly we were robbed.
