Absolutely one of the best things I have read. So so good. Had me on the edge of my seat the whole book. So many twists and turns. A real roller coaster of emotions. Definitely one of the top 5 books I have read. Just wish is was on audible so I could listen to it now. Brilliant
dark emotional fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Yes

A girl accuses one of her guy friends of raping and murdering a classmate. He and the other three guy friends turn on her and start a twisted game of revenge. Convoluted and too long. I skimmed the last 100 pages. Henley made a bunch of stupid choices and it was hard for me to like her or any of the main characters. This started off as a 4 star book because she seemed strong and I was excited for her to investigate the murder and find clues and evidence. But she does literally none of that, and instead screws around with some of the guys in hopes they reveal something (honestly even this much reasoning might be giving her too much credit). I don’t know why Rellik’s character was even in the book, he contributed nothing to the plot. These kids were brutal and twisted and didn’t feel like high school seniors. Things I did like: The twist with Scout was well done. I also liked that Henley ended up with the initially less obvious love interest.

This book would’ve been way better if the characters were not 17?? I had no idea going into this that they were in highschool, I thought it was a college romance. If I ignore their ages it’s a really good story, good plot and good smut, but again, they’re only 17.

WOW! This book was an intense and dark read that I simply devoured. Henley was once very close to the Reapers, but now she has ruined it all. She is goes against them and now they have revenge set in their sights for her. This book gave me some serious RH vibes and I thought it may go that way, but ultimately it didn’t which I was ok with just a tad sad about that. It’s deliciously dark with lots of twists that you may or may not see coming, but not to give too much away because it’s a definite read for those who love twisted reads. At times it could be a little confusing as there are many POV’s, but it also shows us the dynamic of this group and see things through their eyes. Overall, this was an interesting read that had me shocked at moments then questioning other moments, but I didn’t really get a lot of romance vibes just a good dark twisted story with a lot of characters.

Addictive read

This was such an addictive read, I could not put this book down. I just had to know what was going to happen and the ending was so good. Some parts were pretty unexpected, which was such a surprise and I adore being surprised in books. I love trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together and then once that one piece is put into place it’s like a light goes off and so much makes sense.

While I did enjoy this book overall, I found that I couldn’t put it down in the beginning and then the middle was pretty slow. It was still building on the tension and little things which start to make sense at the end. However, once there was a huge reveal I feel like we just hit the ground running and didn’t stop until the last page. Everything was broken down and I love that all of the little things that seemed so minuscule actually had an ulterior motive. Also, that small/big reveal with the fathers at the end… Just icing on the cake. It added a little bit more that we didn’t know we needed.

I don’t know how much of this I would actually called a bully romance. I guess it was but I feel like it was more of a suspense/mystery with some bully love on the side. Obviously there is a relationship but I feel like the mystery and events held my attention more. Possibly because the relationship wasn’t all consuming and worked well while everything was being exposed.

Overall I did enjoy this book. The ending was perfect and I feel like everything was wrapped up in a nice little bow.

Yes, yes, yes!! Shantel does is again!! The Dare Series is one of my favorites, and after reading the first chapters of this book in the anthology, I was hoping MYB would be similar, and O MY GOSH, yaasss!!! I love dark, bully romances, and this one was definitely dark! And steamy. And so hot!

But it was also a mystery! So many twists and turns, it was awesome. I’m not a big mystery reader fan, but add in the dark, bully romance and this mystery was one I definitely wanted to solve. And omg. I did not see that coming.

Henley, ah, I love her! She reminds me of Austin from Dare. She’s a super strong female heroine, she never stops fighting for what she believes in. She takes a lot of crap for standing up for what she believes she saw, which was horrible, and even though she believes it was her friend that did the crime.

I don’t want to say too much about the boys, because I don’t want to give away any of the fun!! But omg, I really love the Reapers, I hope to see more of their stories in the future!!

Definitely a new favorite to add to my already growing list, from one of my favorite authors!!

10 stars, highly recommend if you love dark, bully romances!!
dark mysterious tense

Don’t tread lightly on this authors triggers.

I thought this was going to be a 4 star read but starting the year off with another Shantel book never lets me down. The last 100 pages had me on EDGE.

I really enjoyed this read and most of the characters. I loved that the FMC was so strong willed and made me enjoy it that much more.

Although this is described as RH I wouldn’t call it that due to the ending but she does get “shared” 🥵

Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with a Reaper—he took my soul and demanded I beg for freedom. But instead, I let him consume me to the point of suffocation. Breathing is overrated anyway.

This book is dark but it’s so very good. Think Cruel Intentions from Siobhan Davis or Corrupt from Penelope Douglas. The one drawback here is it’s a standalone and I would love to have more. Henley is a force to be reckoned with in so many ways but she has a one weakness she struggles to control and it’s her attraction to her former friends. This story is non-stop action with quite a few twists and I couldn’t put it down.

Some might find this story disturbing but as a true crime buff, nothing shocks me so I enjoyed every minute. This is a true thriller and the suspense is epic. I especially loved Henley, Dax, Law and Lacy, although the other characters are fantastic but this story is so plot-driven, I feel like I didn’t get to know the characters enough. The relationships here are complicated and sometimes disturbing but I love the way this book ended. My one criticism is that I wanted more of this couple because there was so much happening, they didn’t have much downtime together and I would’ve loved to see the inner workings of their relationship. There’s no way to say much about the plot without being a spoiler so I’ll only say that this book is long but it’s worth every minute.

Shantel is back in her dark bully romance glory! This book will keep you gripping the edge of your seat from the very first sentence to the very last word.

Shantel has the ability to weave a story that is so intricate, and fully rounded I always need to reread to see what I missed the first go around. This book is definitely going to need another read to make sure I get everything.

MYB will leave you begging to forget everything you read just so you can experience it for the first time all over again!

Warning: Shantel adds trigger warnings to her books for a reason. Please heed them accordingly.
