I liked the writing, loved the angst and suspense. The twisted storyline kept me guessing until the end. Shantel is a great story teller and this book definitely proved that. She plays the long game which I really enjoy.
The book was definitely dark and depraved. Many scenes were hard to read due to their dub-con or non-con nature. Sexuality was used as a weapon throughout the entire book which made the heroine Henley come off as extremely weak and disposable. The characters needed more development. It was hard to really get any sense of personality from Rellik and Monroe since they were in the shadows the entire book. Law and Scout kept the story going with their ruthlessness. I did enjoy the splices of different POVs from all of the main characters.
In the end, I found this book to be too much like the Dare series. So many similarities in the story line and character makeup. It was hard to see it as a totally separate “world” because of how familiar it was.

Daaaaaamn! I did not see the twists coming in this book! Talk about sucker punched! Tessier's mind is a dark, dark place filled with some of the most incredibly seductive and naughty characters. This story is an absolute must read!

Emotional and well crafted.
This book hit me head on. It comes at you from all sides. It’s emotional and amazingly well crafted. The story unraveling that keeps all the twists hidden and impactful. I never saw any of it coming; my heart and my head are still reeling. These characters come alive in the pages and stole pieces of my soul along the way. They’re passionate and angsty and secretive. Their chemistry is pure fire and I gobbled it all up. They fought for dominance but I felt like the winner in getting to see their struggle it was enthralling. It never let me go.

First of let me just say that this book is so damn good, if I could give it more then 5 stars I would. I 10/10 recommend this book !!! Shantel has a way with words that's for sure. Wow just wow, I am still left speechless from this book. Get ready for one WILD RIDE. Make you beg just jumped up my list of all time favorite books to sitting pretty and tied for first place with the Sainthood by Siobhan Davis. Make you beg, had everything you could ever want out of a book. It isn't a RH book but it is a MF and MFM which are my favorite books to read. This story is told from multiple points of views. It literally has everything , Suspends darkness, crazy hot sex , Hot Alpha males, Partying Death murder. Henley is one of the strongest female characters I have encounter in a long time. The way she handled herself was so inspiring. And then there is Law. Swoon. my god if he isn't the perfect man. Their relationship is certainly not one of the traditional nature. But man did it not make me envious of it.
Beware once you start this book you will not be able to stop reading it until the very last page. Even then you will crave more!

It’s dramatic but in a fan-fiction-written-by-a-high-schooler way. It’s like My Immortal but not as much personality

So I started reading this one a few months back and set it back down after a few pages because I wasn’t in the mood. I was in the mood now for a bully romance so I picked it back up (hesitantly).
I say hesitantly because the description clearly states that it’s NOT a RH and yet she is being abused and bullied and sexualized by all four guys in the group. It’s just confusing!
But I thought I’d try it anyways. But let me tell you that this book is written in the format of an RH. The four guys are basically always present (so far) or video taping the sexual encounters. And they all get POVs! It’s confusing as hell.
So seeing as it’s written like an RH but NOT one I began to get worried that this wasn’t gonna end good. I was worried that I’m gonna get used to these four guys and then one or more of them is gonna end up dead or actually guilty of the rape/murder at the beginning.
In an effort to save my sanity I did go ahead and read some spoiler reviews to see what happens. I don’t want to waste my time reading 300 more pages of this if it’s gonna end badly (I’m not in the mood for that).
And let’s just say what I found out isn’t good. Basically the guys abuse her (brutally) the entire book, some of them end up dead after allowing other guys to date rape her. There are plenty of other girls they all have sex with too. And she ends up with only one of the guys in the end (one too many if you ask me considering the guy she ends up with doesn’t even have much chemistry with her).
So I’m gonna go ahead and set this down here. This author is just not for me. I’ve already DNF’d another book from her (The Ritual) and it’s clear her writing and story telling style is just not for me.
