Chapter 5 (the first chapter in vol. 2) started on a happy note but soon turned gloomy. It became so sad after the truth about one state alchemist came out and very soon was followed by a final blow - it left a bitter taste in my mouth and a scar in my mind and I noticed the same feeling in Ed Elrich.

In this volume more powers of Lust and Gluttony surfaced. For Lust, it's the power to restore body parts and keep senescence in check. Gluttony can smell a person over a long distance.
One of the most complex characters introduced in this volume is Alex Louis Armstrong. Like his name he truly has strong arms and excellent fighting techniques - something for which he deserves respect. His narcissism over his muscular body is funny, while his sensitive mind soon makes him one of the most likable characters in the manga. But the crimes he committed in the past make it difficult to decide his moral values. So, as I said, he is a complex character.

As always the graphics are hilarious, expressions comical, and dialogues entertaining. I am totally in love with this manga series - no wonder it achieved such popularity. Though the anime based on it couldn't faithfully recreate those funny expressions (yeah, you guessed it - I am watching the anime side-by-side with each chapter), it nonetheless has a beauty and gravity of its own.
The situation with Scar wasn't solved in vol 2 and it seems it will go on for some time. Maybe he is intended to represent one of the main villains (or is it? It's not too much to expect from someone whose whole family and village were murdered by another group), let's see!
Overall I loved every part of this work by Hiromu (originally Hiromi) Arakawa and looking forward to reading her other books too, once I finish this series of course.
Without a doubt, it deserves a whopping 5 Stars from my side!
Umm... maybe I should wait a while before deciding on the ratings!

No matter how many times I hear about or see the Chimera chapter/episode, it still hurts as much. There’s no word to express how awful it is.
On another note, I love all the (good) characters! Mustang and Hawkeye and Alex Louis are *chief kiss*, and of course Alphonse and Edward have such an amazing relationship.
I got quite emotional in this volume, but it was well balanced with the laughter and the hero moments.

Graphic: Animal cruelty, Child abuse, Gore, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Gun violence, Medical trauma
Chapter 6/7 had max Elric angst (that rain seen like A+ and Riza is there too my heart sings) which I respect but this volume had a lot of establishment for story arcs and such so it wasn't too amazing in and of itself imo
This one was way better than the first magma. We get to see more emotion from Edward and more scenes with the brother bond. You can see more of there sibling relationship than in the first one.
The second magma more of a story focus. Each part is connected together. Unlike the first magma it wasn’t three separate stories in one magma. Each part led to another part of the story.
I also like Scar as a villain. I am starting to like the two brothers too.
