The story continues where it left off in the first book, with the Breeds having just announced their existence, but the focus of this book is another couple, Taber and Roni.
This is their second chance at making things work between them, since the first time around they were both deceived and manipulated into breaking up.
Roni's stubbornness annoyed me quite a bit and she is definitely not my favorite heroine, but after the halfway point she thankfully shows some good qualities.
Taber is the usual macho shifter who tends to get a little overprotective with his mate, but in their case he has a reason to be so, since they are constantly under threat.
In the bigger story a lot of shifters have joined their pride and they are all trying to find their place in society, while having to fight for their survival.
Heavy on the sex and with various threads open to be explored in future books, the Feline Breeds series continues with Sherra and Kane's story next, but in the bigger Breeds universe [b:Elizabeth's Wolf|582812|Elizabeth's Wolf (Breeds, #3)|Lora Leigh|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347524577s/582812.jpg|569682] precedes it.

I didn't like this one as much. If this is how the rest of the series is going to be I may not continue. I'll give it one more try on the next one.

I really liked this story. The effects of some of the tricky things Dayan had done coming into light after his death was a neat twist. It was also interesting to see how the Breeds are living now that they've gone public and what the public actually thinks of them. I'm glad to see Kane still working with the Breeds. Roni and Taber's own story is very cool to see too. The length of time they've known each other being so much longer than Merinus and Callan, it gives much more back story for us to read. I like that they have a history. I'm very much looking forward to reading Kane and Sherra's story...they keep tossing us little hints and foreshadowing what might come!

Doing a reread and it's been so long that I don't remember anything. That makes me enjoy these so much more.
