I actually really enjoyed this book. I'm a sucker for celebrity romance because of the drama that often comes with the dynamic. This book surprisingly didn't push that aspect of the trope as far forward as some and I was okay with that.

The major conflict here stemmed primarily from the internal struggles of the characters, both Sophie, the celebrity and Dana, her manager. I felt Dana had a really good internal struggle and honestly the issues she dealt with were handle a bit differently than I tend to see. I genuinely enjoyed both the main characters. They were interesting and I felt I could sympathize with both. I even really liked Dana's ex, which I did not expect. I really appreciated that actually wasn't an antagonist in any way and I actually wanted a happy ending for her.

The only actual issue I had was that Dana didn't really feel like a manager from the get-go. Things went from professional to friendly and then some really fast. She was sort of billed as the professional, can handle the problems manager early on so I expected her to be just a bit more like that. I stilled liked her character as a whole though.

This was a very sweet, believable read about a singer who's been in the spotlight for almost half her life learning to cope with the loss of the only parental figure she's ever known while coming to terms with her sexuality.

And there was excellent usags of "there's only 1 bed" trope.

But I am getting very tired of the "we don't do handshakes, we hug around here" trope of meeting family. Some people... don't like hugs? Or from strangers? Respect boundaries, please, even if you consider yourself a welcoming person.

I always enjoy Georgia Beers’ books but not always on the same level. Some are okay (a really good okay) but others are a lot more than that. I’m happy to say Fear of Falling falls in the latter category.

If I had to summarize it, I’d say it’s about finding your true self, in more ways than one.

At 29, Sophie James is an internationally known singer and has been for more than a decade. Since she was « discovered » as a teenager by the man who would become her manager, Ray. When we meet her, she’s doing her best to get over Ray’s sudden death. In the process, she begins to find ways to make her own choices, both in her professional and private life. When she first meets her, Dana Landon, her new manager, expects her to be yet another diva but quickly realizes that Sophie is in fact a really sweet person. The attraction appears very quickly, and while Sophie doesn’t recognize it at first for what it is, Dana is immediately aware, both of how attracted she is and of the trouble it might create for them both.

Even though the characters do seem to fall in love rather fast, it didn’t bother me at all. Georgia Beers is very good at describing feelings and how her characters grow into those feelings, making it all completely believable.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Reading a romance novel by Georgia Beers is like tucking into comfort food after a stressful day at work. You know your cravings will be satisfied and you’ll end your meal with a contented smile on your face.

Sophie is ready for a shake up in both her professional and personal life. It’s up to her new manager Dana to keep her in line, cranking out the ballads her fans and recording label have come to expect. It doesn’t take long before their professional relationship begins to veer into the personal. Can the realities of celebrity, controlling execs and manipulative ex-girlfriends stand in the way of their HEA?

This is a quick read which leaves little time for Sophie and Dana to connect, sort out their attraction and come to terms with their relationship. It’s easy to love Sophie,a star since her teens, surprisingly composed and mature considering the lack of parental support she has received in her life. Dana, ten years her senior seems immature by comparison. She has a solid support system of friends and relatives yet allows her ex, Laura to lead her around by her nose. My frustration with Dana and the modern twist on the usual make out and break up romance novel expectations made their HEA that much sweeter.

Lovely escapist read which will leave a smile on your face. Nice to have a coming out romance released during Pride month.

As many have written before me, this is a lovely beach read to sit back and relax. It doesn't have much drama or angst, but enough to move the story along. The plot is not deep either, but a sweet story about two lovable characters. I think for anyone who wants something light to read in between, this would be the ideal read.

The book is about a famous, well-known singer, Sophie, who loses her long-time, loyal manager to death. Because of her poor relationship with her family, he was like a father figure she looked up to. With him out of her life, she also lost a bit of stability, which hit her hard personally.

Because of the loss, Sophie's record company hires a new manager named Dana. The two hit it off right away and develop a close friendship that eventually becomes more. Meanwhile, Dana is caught up in her past and must decide what she wants for her future. Over time, Sophie tries to figure out where she stands in life as a public figure.

This book is very shallow, with just a hint of drama, as mentioned initially. The main characters are likeable, the story is sweet and has a happy ending.

I’m a big Beers fan, but some of her latest books haven’t hit the mark for me, so it’s been a bit up and down, but I loved this one.

MC Sophie is a famous singer whose agent has just passed away. He was a father figure to her, so this hits her hard. MC Dana is a manager/publicist who is assigned to take Sophie on after an ill advised night out.

Both MCs are attracted to each other right away, but the romance is a slow burn with them getting to know each other in ways that unfold fairly naturally and are very sweet. There’s a handful of secondary characters (besties of both MCs and Dana’s family) who aren’t particularly fleshed out but add to the story as needed. Both women are interesting and actually talk to each other, no stupid miscommunications or contrived breakups here. There’s also an age difference, which I always enjoy.

I also liked that even though this is Sophie’s first relationship with a woman, she knows what she wants and there’s no back and forth and melodrama about her feelings for Dana, Sophie’s circumstances are such that it’s entirely plausible that she hasn’t experienced this before, but she also old enough to know what she wants and just goes with it, which I found refreshing.

The only quibble I had was Dana’s ex, that storyline dragged on for too long and made Dana look a bit weak with the to-ing and fro-ing (though I was glad Beers didn’t utilise another trope by making the ex the real baddie).

All in all though, this is a nice, sweet romance and is right up there with my favourite Beers books. 4 stars.

wow wow wow, I just loved this novel! It was so heartwarming and lovely. I always love Georgia Beers' work and this novel was no different! I loved both Sophie and Dana, on their own and loved how the story was told from both of their perspectives. I was in a trance as I read and could not put it down. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves an amazing and endearing love story!
