Well this book was way too pretty not to pick up.

And then I read the back cover and it talked about it being a gothic romance with ”poisonous deeds” and a mysterious man covered in shadows. Take my money.

I really liked it. It’s dark fairy tale meets true crime. I love how they were intertwined.

Definitely want to read Foxglove when it comes out.

i absolutely adored this book! i love a good murder mystery with a hint of supernatural stuff! belladonna reminds me very much of the show Ghost Whisperer (which i also absolutely love)! i love signa and her journey throughout the book and her acceptance of what Death is and what it can mean!! this book helped give me a new perspective on death and the passing of a loved one 10/10 recommend this book.

my absolute favorite quote:

“A human life is a beautiful thing. You humans… you feel. You feel so deeply that it consumes you… he feels sorrow because he loved so deeply. And were I not real, Little Bird, were I not Death, he would never have experienced that love. So which better? To live forever, or to live and love?” (350)

A girl with different colored eyes and an ability to see spirits, has a connection with Death himself. When Signa has yet another caregiver die, she is sent to live with her uncle and cousins who have recently lost their mother to a strange illness that has also settled on the girl cousin. But is it an illness or something else? Signa has a mystery to solve and in the time it takes to solve that mystery, she also begins to understand her connection with Death. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the second one!

Oh my good word. This book is absolutely incredible and I haven’t been caught by a book like this in forever (even though I skipped a decade of reading). There are so many twists and turns and although I guessed only one ☝️ twist, so many things happened that I did not expect. I am eagerly waiting for Foxglove

Sometime last year, I had immediately added this book TBR as soon as I learned that Death was a love interest. I knew I was going to love it. I just didn't know HOW MUCH I was going to love it. I'm SO glad I finally got the push to read it thanks to some awesome people (you know who you are

The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because there were times in the book that I thought dragged, but the story as a whole was good!

Loved the story! I couldn’t stop reading, but the ink thing that irritated me a little was the scene with the death and signa when they came very close to eachother. Cannot wait to read the 2. Book
