An interesting conclusion to this trilogy. The world building in this series is really strong and makes me want to read more about it.

I wasn't expecting Binti to die about halfway through (especially so brutally, but I guess that could've been done so that readers would have no doubt that she died and to show the brutality of war). I thought the rest of the book was going to be about remembering her and Mwinyi and Okwu solving the rest of the questions that needed to be answered and maybe completing her mission. But then she's revived.
It's funny Binti points out that the reasons the Zinariya left the golden ball felt anticlimactic because it was. There were a few story threads that still weren't completely answered, which makes me hope that Okorafor will write a fourth book or something. But overall I enjoyed this trilogy.

A really interesting series, very imaginative, very poignant and entertaining.
An original futuristic sci-fi tale of an African tribe girl who wishes to escape Earth and her family trap and study in the outer space university.
Binti escapes during night cover and boards the ship that will change her destiny forever. The only survivor of an attack on the ship by the aliens Meduse she will suffer the trauma but also the strange connection to her aggressors, who she gets to know in order to survive, especially to Okwu, with whom she shares her unique kind of magic and power. Undoubtedly changed physically and mentally Binti will face many challenges and ordeals to change the way the cosmos sees the aggressive and aggrieved Meduse, and to change the racism her people on Earth still suffer.
Liked the first book, but enjoyed the second more although I missed Okwu’s participation in it, the last was my favourite and overall the series was a solid 4⭐️.

I will be honest this series has been a bit of a disappointment for me.

There are lots of things I like but it is just really hard to follow past the first book.

I think I may not be this book's ideal reader but I did get a lot out of it. I really enjoyed the ending which felt new and exciting when I understood it.

I did feel like a lot of it's magic system was being suddenly explained and I could have used that info earlier

This went in so many unexpected directions, and was just as beautiful and wildly imaginative as the previous books in the series. The world building is so cool, and I’m definitely going to be thinking about the Binti Trilogy for awhile. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the ending, as it stands, and surprised (and maybe disappointed?) that some things from the first half of the book didn’t seem very resolved by the end of it.

The world-building and character development remain strong and bring along a better plot line. In hindsight this one is getting better in my memory. Definitely one of those novellas that kept me turning pages, though this sequel felt less sci-fi space odyssey and more sci-fi magical realism. I like both though so the switch didn't bother me. An interesting exploration of PTSD from a non-traditional format. Again with the intriguing use of math.
