Group of lonely misfits turned found family waged war against loneliness and Hubert Bird comes to grips with his past. I really enjoyed the beginning half of the book, but the ending fell a little flat for me. The main conflict of the book was not exactly resolved, it was sort of dissolved, which meant there was no payoff for the tension, which didn’t work for me.

A gentle, sweet book, that went to some surprisingly dark places, but was ultimately very uplifting. Just what I needed after reading a few hard-hittin  recently.

Loved this book. First time reading this author but definitely not my last. Made my cry ( and books never make me cry). Excellent narrator

I cried.

This is without a doubt the most beautiful book I have ever read. It's not even that sad of a book but it was so beautiful and so well-written it made me cry. The spine of the book is even broken from how quickly I finished it. Just, amazing. Would give an infinite amount of stars if I could.

This was wonderful and also there was no need for it to be so sad

This book is beautiful and heartbreaking, and a lovely portrait of a senior man finding new love for life. It packs a punch but it’s such a beautiful story with so many characters I’d love to know in real life.

Thanks to Grand Central Pub for a review copy

This book is pure magic. I need to come back and write more of a review but I want to capture my in the moment feelings which is happiness at the wonderfulness of thos book and the characters and the sadness that it’s over. I cried multiple times while reading this as well as had a myriad of other emotions. This is the type of book you want to hug and make everyone read it
