I can't get enough of this story. It's phenomenal. The horror is brilliant but the regular slice of school life part of it is perfectly balanced. And the art connects both of those together perfectly. I can't even think of a way for it to be better. It's like 99% perfect.

October 2023. 5/5 stars. I loved volume 1 so much I bought volume 2 the day it released this month! As a huge library stan that’s saying something.
A supernatural horror manga with queer subtext in which a teen goes missing in the woods, and returns changed, but only his best friend the main character realizes the doppelgänger isn’t his real friend.
It contains cosmic horror elements and complex grief as he wars between embracing this replacement and grieving his friend who isn’t really coming back.
It’s heartfelt and tragic and fascinating, and I cannot recommend it enough. Volume 2 absolutely holds up to the high expectations I had after volume 1, absolutely no question that I’ll preorder future volumes.
The art is compelling and unique, both in showing our MC’s emotions and thoughts, but also in showing the body horror and supernatural elements in a striking way.

Molto intrigante, Yoshiki come personaggio è scritto molto bene. Diviso tra l'accettare il "nuovo Hikaru" per colmare la mancanza dell'amico e invece prestare attenzione ai moniti degli abitanti, non sa se fidarsi o no di lui. Super interessante, sono curiosa di vedere come va avanti.
