I love this series so much. I cannot state enough how much I am loving every aspect so far.
This series blew me away in the first volume with the way Mokumokuren is able to create such a claustrophobic, creeping horror. The dread the lives in every panel just makes my skin crawl.
The mystery continues to evolve. We get some answers and even more questions. I am starting to put some pieces together, but I love how more and more gets added to the board.
The relationship between Hikaru and Yoshiki also further complicates. It's sad and twisted and so damn engaging. I want to know more, I want to see how bad this can get. Because I have a feeling it'll get real dark. This is tragedy as much as it is anything else. And I love the conflict of wanting your loved one around at any cost, and the pain of knowing the imitation cannot replace them.
The dichotomy of Hikaru makes his presence as a monster pretty interesting. Because he is at once, as naïve as a child and as dangerous as a predator. And even he seems to have no real sense of self.
I love this, I love the queer undertones and the metaphor of the feeling of monstrosity and queerness. The suffocating feeling of small town politics coupled with literal monsters in the woods.
This series has been one of my favorite finds of the year. It's dark, creative, tense, and very well executed. I need the next volume as soon as possible
