If you can get past the creepy pictures, this book is freaking awesome! Never saw the twist coming.

I personally would classify this book more as a psychological thriller than a horror. I wouldn’t say I was ever felt the uncomfortableness I normally feel when reading other horror novels.
The book read very fast. I think if I had more time I would’ve been able to finish it in less than a day.
Overall a pretty good book if you go in thinking it’s a thriller over horror. Plus who doesn’t like a book with pictures?

I don't even know where to start...
I see so many people talking about Hidden Pictures so I was both excited and nervous to get to it.
At it's core Hidden Pictures is an interesting story. I really enjoyed my reading experience with it. Unfortunately the set up with the creepy drawings had me believing it was going to be a super creepy, scary story. I didn't find it creepy or scary in the slightest, which I'm a bit sad about. I think it missed the mark as a 'horror'.
It was also pretty slow which I didn't mind because it had an interesting plot - this did mean it was a bit neck breaking when all the drama happened in the last 20 pages or so. I would have appreciated a bit more drama scattered throughout.
I enjoy reading from characters who are recovering addicts. In my opinion this was handled really well in Hidden Pictures and it didn't end up being a scapegoat for the plot which was great.
There was definitely some questionable things brought up in this book (that I won't mention because of spoilers) but I wasn't obsessed with some choices.
I read this as a buddy read and it 100% added to the experience having someone to discuss it with along the way. It gets pretty chaotic, so it's fun to talk about.
I'd definitely recommend this to a lot of people - but don't expect anything scary.

Enjoyed! Good hook, but the pacing in the middle bogged down for me. Didn’t fully anticipate the ending twists which was a fun surprise. Feel like it needed to be 5 chapters shorter to be more punchy but overall enjoyed.

This was sort of a strange one.
The story drew me in right away, especially as someone from Philly and in recovery from an opioid addiction. The author’s descriptions of opioid use/withdrawal/addiction in the northeast in the early 2010s (I assume) was spot on and very believable.
This being a thriller/mystery with a supernatural element was interesting. I don’t think it was my cup of tea, but this was still a page turner that kept me engaged and entertained.
The twist of Teddy’s identity didn’t sit quite right with me, especially with this book written relatively recently amidst some hateful legislation either passing or in the works. Just didn’t feel like a well thought out or great choice to me.
