For some reason I was expecting a paranormal monster book. I do not know why I thought this would be the case because after re-reading the synopsis there wasn't anything about monsters, so that is my fault. Like accidentally picking up the wrong drink - you're expecting O.J. but it's coffee and your taste buds are temporarily repulsed. Not that coffee is bad, just not what you were prepared for.
I thought this was a monster book up until 3/4 of the way through. Turned out to be a damn Scooby-Doo monster - some douche in a suit. This turned into a serial killer novel, and I hated it.
Cast was super cliché. The whole teen movie cast was here - the teen couple, the damsel, the slightly more mature teen who takes the lead, and of course, the jaded cop with a trouble past... Do not recommend.
This was a false start to my spooktober reads.

Oh. My. GOSH. 

I just borrowed everything libby had by Darcy here, because this was SO GOOD! Very creepy. Very atmospheric. Kept me on edge throughout. 😬🙈 Seriously, eery. I really appreciated the ending too. Very... er... realistic? Not a perfectly wrapped up "happily ever after".
