Finally finished reading it. Took me ages as it’s the pace is really slow. It was just difficult to read because of, well the main theme.  Although Nabokov’s use of English is mesmerisingly beautiful.

H.H is disgusting but … quite funny at times.

"In the infinite run it does not matter a jot that a North American girl child named Dolores Haze had been deprived of her childhood by a maniac, unless this can be proven."

it is so hard to put into words the way this novel affected me, other than we've done a great disservice to it by peddling it as a 'love story' for all these years. nabokov can say this story has no moral but the authorial intent reads very clear to me! i do almost feel like i could go back and read it again and catch new things because it kind of reads like a very overwritten horror/mystery novel, because HH is lying to you constantly and covering up his crimes with flowery prose. dolores haze you deserved better, who the fuck is "lolita" anyway!!!

Couldn’t do it. It’s well written but I couldn’t get past how much detail is gone into the subject. It was also a bit boring and I found myself putting it on in the background just to mindlessly get through it. At about 44% through I gave up on it.

I'd give Lolita four stars but man, that was a drag...
Personally lowered score from preference, book feels dragged out too long for inconsequential things before just before the ending, then ending abruptly... But it adds to the shock. Just wasn't too satisfied, but it is Lolita, once again.
Very uncomfortable, but that is warranted. Had to put down book in disgust multiple times, one point leaving the book for a week before finishing it.
Prose is flowery, nice writing style, as Humbert puts it; "You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style".
I feel connected to the book, being a survivor of sexual abuse, and I really sympathise for Dolores; Humbert is a true monster in every shape and form.
Lolita is a heartbreaking and harrowing tale about abuse. Nabokov's masterpiece filled with irony poignant social commentary.
Hate the content though, so hard to stomach, I don't think I'll reread anytime soon, and I do not recommend for the light hearted, one of the hardest reads I've done yet.
