Ridiculously hard to get through, but incredibly necessary to read it as a tale about Dolores's tragedy. It is not about Humbert, and it is definitely not meant to romanticize him. This book will continue to have a controversial legacy, but it will be very important to me. I see myself in Dolores in many ways, as someone raised as a girl.

I almost DNF this book but stuck it out and boy… once i did…. you can’t help but feel sorry for the professor but then you realize what he’s doing and who he is and you feel for Lolita.

Heavy trigger warnings to watch out for. It is definitely a controversial book yet it also feels slow. I wouldn’t quite say one-dimensional, but the focus of the storyline is definitely unreliable. But once again, I didn’t finish this story so please don’t put complete faith in me. Read it if you want, at your own discretion of course.
