Rocannon's world is definitely the first in the Hainish Cycle. It feels like Le Guin was finding her footing with this book. By the time Left Hand of Darkness came out she found it. Honestly Rocannon's World serves more now as a subtle introduction to her crafted Sci-fi world than anything else. It was fairly enjoyable but nothing super special yet.

LeGuin merges science fiction and fantasy with lackluster results.

Short and delightful, it didn’t strike me like the rest of her work.
