Le Guin somehow managed to fit more plot, character development, and more world building in 150 pages than most 500 page fantasy novels I've read. It was fantastic, I can't wait to read more.

I found plenty to love in this third novel in the Hainish cycle, written in the 60s and an early work of my favorite author. It follows the journey of a "Starlord," Rocannon, who came to a planet to study its resources and various intelligent inhabitants. His fellow crew is destroyed by hostile aliens, who also attack the planet's natives. He enlists their help to stop a far technologically superior enemy with just his desire for revenge and will to stop them. Dang it, it was a delightful read. I loved it. I will read this again.
