Trina is a loner, and Ethan is the school God. On the surface, it doesn’t seem as if they have much in common. Their hurt runs deep though, and it’s that pain that will bond them in ways they never imagined.

Deep and sweet romance. It’s YA, but the style and context of the story definitely give the impression more of an NA read. The romance flows easily, and I love how the bond between Trina and Etcetera (Trina’s nickname for Ethan) deepens as we get to know the characters. I was a lot like Trina in high school, just one of those people who blurs into the background with the lockers so I could definitely feel every ounce of her curiosity and disbelief about Ethan’s interest in her.

It's always interesting when the author narrates their book. This isn’t my first time listening to one of Miss Hucton’s books, and I always love her ability to bring life to her characters.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

I liked this a lot. 4.5 stars. I was able to get the Kindle copy download as part of Kindle Unlimited, but I really just listened to the audio (which I got for free in exchange for an honest review). I haven't listened to too many audiobooks read by the author ... but I was utterly impressed here. While authors definitely have a connection to their story, they aren't always actors, able to characterize the voices and enunciate. Starla Huchton was completely professional, and I'd look for her if she narrated other works (I do see that she also narrates her Evolution series, I have read the first book there, it had been offered as a free Kindle download, so no audio on that one for me).

I don't read a ton of contemporary, high school, romance novels, but enjoyed this sweet story. I have a background in musical theater (I was there on the stage, lead in the school musical). I helped out with costumes a bit too, although nothing to the extent Trina did. I sew, but my skills are definitely limited.

Trina seemed a bit too perfect. Her sewing/design skills were incredible, especially for a high school student. Then there was her hidden singing talent (I was almost expecting the traditional "High School Musical" becomes the star of the show route, and was glad this didn't fall into that stereotype). Add in her great relationship with her parents and best friend, and teachers, and then the fact that (even in her own words) she's just a nice person. A little too good to be true. But, it is a book.

There were some interesting religious overtones. Nothing preachy (even with one of the characters being a preacher), nothing even that essential to the story. Just part of the story.

I LOVED the nicknames Et Cetera (and the title tie-in) and Cindy Lou ;)
