Not my type of poetry, but it was interesting to get into Persian literature. The selection wasn’t as diverse as I’d hoped it would be. Almost every poem had the same rhythm, same themes, same style, same descriptions…etc. I just personally don’t like it. But I think this collection would be good for preteens or teenagers who’re just getting into poetry and are into romantic themes.

Beautiful attempt at translation of the persian poetry.

Can't really say wether I'm not a poetry fan or if I honestly did not enjoy the English translation of a work I could've put more effort into understanding and enjoying in the original langauge.

The collection was tragic, melancholic and in some parts, extremely liberal, there are many expressions of loss and grievance for one's old self and somewhat poetic longing for a partner that may change forms and at times could be none other than oneself.

I knew from the first few poems that this would be a new favorite collection of mine. Farrokhzad’s writing is so captivating, emotional, and intense, its so easy to get lost in her words. Her depictions of desire, yearning and passion had me hanging on to every line.
