The Reader is in a category of books for me that gets better as time passes -- that being said, I wouldn't necessarily liken a book that deals with disillusionment, philosophical unanswerables, and Nazi war crimes as a fine wine. But the more I sit with its questions, talk about it with others, and (of course) watch the movie, the more I appreciate it.
It doesn't hurt that I'm a sucker for short books, for the same reason that I like short stories and poems -- it gets to the point but still has layers begging to be peeled. Fascinating and well-written.

I want to write a review but I’m not sure where to start. I liked the structure, the character development (for the most part), and the fact that I’m left with questions to ponder. I only give a book five stars if I think it will stay with me, becoming part of how I see the world. I believe this one will.
