When he was fifteen, Michael Berg had a relationship with an adult woman. Later in life, he reminisces about how big an impact It had on him.

Although it seems like it, this is not just a coming-of-age book. In post-WW2 Germany, it also touches on deep ethical questions. Any more would be spoiler.

I really enjoyed this novel. At times I felt it was really fast-paced and that the author could have given the readers more to the story of Hanna because I really didn't know her that great in the novel. I love Schlinks writing though and the story line in this novel made it an enjoyable read.

Honestly, I couldn't get through it... It might have been the adult love affair with an adolescent that was creeping me out.

It's a short book--you can read it in a day but it's still incredibly thorough with a satisfying ending. I liked everything about this book. The characters aren't really likable or relatable in terms of characteristics/personalities, but you still feel what they're feeling. It was weird, but cool.
