If you liked Ender's Game, you'll love this one. Not quite the same story told through another character, Bean's, perspective. It brings new insight and meaning to some of the same events in Ender's Game. The foreword says you can read either book first, but I recommend reading Ender's Shadow after you've read Ender's Game.

This was my first sci fi book and may as well be my last. At times it intrigued me but as i got to the end and only had 50 pages left I just had a friend of mine tell me what happened. Although bean was such a great character...he was the reason I continued to read it.

...what was up with "the buggers" only an American would add that. Either he was being a little cheeky or just didn't know better

This book was really good. I liked how Card was able to write a story that takes place in the same time/place as another, without making it feel like a reread.

As great as the Ender stories are, I think the Shadow series is even better. There is a lot more character development with Bean than with Ender. Sure, Bean is more flawed in some ways (and in some ways more perfect than Ender) but he's more interesting.

really fantastic follow-up to the ender's game series. bean was always one of my favorite characters, and it's interesting to see how that brilliant little bastard was brought up. i've also never forgotten that email system his caretaker devised in the event of her death, for some reason.
