A great companion to Ender's Game. It's wonderfully woven into the original story without retconning details or story arcs. Feels like the pair were planned from the start.

Lovely visual companion to the novel, and I think I would've liked it still had I not read the novel, but it's hard to know if I would've understood it as well.
Of course parts had to be cut and condensed, but really, I think they did a nice job with that. Wonderfully intriguing storyline, just like the book. Beautiful illustrations, too.
I look forward to reading the next installment (and to reading the graphic novel of Ender's Game, since I haven't yet).

I realized that I reviewed the graphic novel before I had reviewed the actual novel. Which is not the order I read them in. :p

Like Ender's Game, this novel had excellent sci-fi elements and story basis. I *loved* the idea of Bean's altered genetics.
However, there were some slow moments in this novel for me-some too technical aspects that I didn't want to have to think too hard to get. :p So, some boring parts, but I got through them.

I was disappointed in the ending-too happy, too abrupt, too dismissive in my opinion. It makes me feel better that there are more books in the series to make up for the crap ending.

This novel was good, but I still preferred Ender's Game just a little bit-since we knew the large plot lines from Ender's Game, this one lacked some suspense aspects. Still, I'm giving it four stars, so I still enjoyed it a great deal.

gives untold dimension to the original story of ender's game, and the depth of all the characters and the reading experience of both is greatly enhanced by this. i always recommend it to people who liked ender's game.

Bean is a bit of a mary sue character but the plot was good

Probably enjoyed and appreciated this even more than Ender's Game. Takes place in roughly the same time period telling most of the same events as Ender's Game, but from a different character's perspective. Maturity of author shows. Very creative, good contrast and partnership between the main characters of each novel. Even though the author says both could stand on their own, I would definitely read Ender's Game before this.
