This was a really good beginning novella. It was a story on it's own, it introduced us to the world and the new characters. It also got me really excited to read the first book of the series. So basically, it accomplished everything it was intending to and then some.

I like the characters and the story. It was short, sweet and still meaningful. What more could a person ask for?

My Thoughts:

What a way to start a new series! Of course Jennifer knows how to start one that’ll grab you by the toes and won’t let you go. For me, she just has a way of writing that lures me in and enchants me. Mostly anything by this author, I love, so when starting Bitter Sweet, I knew I was going into another great book. I didn’t really have any expectations, other than probably, hopefully, be blown away. And, well, Jennifer didn’t let me down!

First and foremost, Gargoyles! I, in all of my reading expeditions, have never encountered reading about these beings. So I really didn’t know how she was going to make these so called monstrous creatures, sexy and awesome. Jennifer did pull that off quite well. With her compelling writing, she wove a very interesting concept featuring gargoyles and a quite distinctive world around them.

Though this was a novella, in all honest, it did not feel as such. Jennifer brilliantly introduces us to the new world she has vividly conjured. And she quite quickly starts building her world, her characters, and her intriguing plot right from the start. I did wish it was a bit longer, but then again, it is a novella. I found that Bitter Sweet Love played out nicely, had a great pace, and a wonderful introduction to the world of gargoyles.

The characters really took me away. I have always adored Jennifer’s heroines, the fighting bad-ass ones, or the more laid back ones. So Jasmine was really no exception. Though Jasmine is a bit different from Jen’s other ladies, she really is quite a force. I really enjoyed this girl’s strength, and her love for her kind. And even though Jasmine doesn't really go around fighting evil, I found her personality to be one I truly enjoyed.

Then there is Dez. Need I say more? Well, he is just another sexy male created by Jen. And he proves that gargoyles can be oh, so sexy! Dez was that perfect blend of bad-ass male, with subtle kindness. I adored the way he swooped into the book. Like Jasmine, he has this strength that I just love finding in characters. I loved his love for Jasmine and his kind. Plus, he’s sexy.

I also really enjoyed getting to see the other characters that will be featuring in White Hot Kiss. This novella is a great setup for the future books. It introduces this new world wonderfully, and really brings into focus just how amazingly awesome it’s going to be. I know I cannot wait for more, and I really hope there will be some more Dez and Jasmine in White Hot Kiss.

I highly recommend this one to JLA fans. Bitter Sweet Love is a great set up for another remarkable series by Jennifer. I loved getting lost into this new world filled with fierce gargoyles and wicked demons.

dopo aver sopportato l'insopportabile, mi sono dovuta fermare a pagina 71 alla frase "sapeva di cioccolato e virilità [...]". il motivo è autoesplicativo.
