Interesting read. Ghost-story like novel, not too graphic, not too scary. Looking forward to her next novel, which is why I read this one.
Because I loved all 3 books by Gillian Flynn, Amazon suggested McMahon as similar, but I was skeptical. I read The One I Left Behind first, then this. I'm a fan. They're easy reads and hard to put down. Though not without plot holes, the stories fall together nicely and the characters are disturbing yet believable, even in a book which involves the supernatural like this one does. I will be reading more by this author, and maybe I'll stop being so skeptical of Amazon's suggestions.

Jennifer McMahon is a skilled writer still learning her craft. Yet she can pull you in and you can ignore some of her flaws. Promise Not to Tell was one of those books that at times she skipped around a bit but was still a good read.
