I think that this series could've been served better by being a trilogy instead of a duology. There are POVs and character arcs that needed more set-up before their emotional pay-off (specifically, the women needed more page time for their arcs to land). Overall though, this is a book that broke my heart in the best way and I still highly recommend the series. I eagerly await whatever Parker-Chan writes next!
