It's taken three years but I've finally finished the Radiant King Duology and it was incredible.
The characters and their motives and actions are so complex. The action takes place at lightning speed. The choices made in the previous book have long reaching implications that come to fruition.
I won't lie, it's a big book. So much happens so quickly though that at no point does it feel like a slog.
10/10 read the duology, it's absolutely worth the time.

I was gonna rate this lower because it was a slower read but I thought about it again: this NEEDED to be a slower read. That first book hooked me immediately and this one did a great job of keeping me intrigued throughout. Watching everyone’s separate stories overlap and intertwine was confusing at some points but so satisfying overall. There were a few incredibly written scenes that made me feel something real, Ouyang and Baoxiang’s story lines particularly. Watching them grapple with darkness in an attempt to find happiness or worthiness was something that anyone could identify with and it was well done. I laughed, cringed, and cried a bit but I enjoyed this duology a lot.

I wanted to like it but I felt from the middle of the book it just dragged a lot of drama out that didn't add much.
