I really enjoyed the world-building and the different characters you meet who are important in their own way, even if they aren't the main characters. Elwyn's character is relatable. She possesses great skills but feels invisible around others. Being herself isn't enough, and she's got to prove that she's worth it at every turn. Throughout the story, I felt she was just trying to live a normal life, one that she definitely deserved after everything she had dealt with. I was frustrated with Brannon often as I felt like he didn't often try to understand others. Lydia was such a beautiful character and her mother's love for her was so touching.
As you read the story, you get such vivid details about the surroundings that you feel like you are truly there in person. With so many characters introduced, you might get a little lost if you aren't paying attention. Overall, the story is enjoyable, heart-wrenching, and full of action.
Thanks Nerd Fam and City Owl Press!

Favorite Quote: βA little whiskey makes you glad, a little more will make you mean. If either manner makes a mess, a little more will wipe it clean.β
The writing style is great, the whole Seelie and Unseelie separation also fantastic and I found that I really enjoyed the MCs.
To me though, there were so many perspectives its both interesting and confusing. It's fascinating to get what's going on from different point of views but it was just so much I kept thinking "Ok who is this again?".
The book on a whole was good. Nothing too out there nothing too attention grabbing with the exception of the end. I will admit the end had me of the edge of my seat. Thoroughly enjoyed the end!

The beginning is very dense with the amount of characters, world building and getting into the groove of the writing style.
The story line was amazing, I enjoyed reading how the characters interacted and how the world came together.

This was such a good fantasy read. This story was well paced, it was action packed, and the world building was completely immersive. I enjoyed the magic system and the whimsical fairytale components tied into this fantasy adventure story.
I absolutely loved the characters and getting each of their unique points of view. I also appreciated the romantic subplot, even though it was subtle.

This book deserves more hype! It is not young adult but it's not romantasy either. There are a few curse words but no spicy scenes. Multiple POVS, found family, unique magical creatures. The story was very fast paced and each character is changed by the end.

In The Unseen, a thief absconds to a small town, where she is pursued by her former employer and then joins in odd company to try to save the life of a little girl. The characters shine with their different backstories, some of which are dark. The story slows a little when new characters are introduced but it is exciting when their paths cross or connections are made. The settings are varied, and the magic is whimsical but also creepy in this high fantasy novel.

Quick Summary: An exciting new sci-fi/fantasy adventure
My Review: The Unseen is book 1 in The Reel of Rhysia series. It's dark, intriguing, and full of curiosities.
About the Book: Right out of the gate, this book immediately sucks you in. It begins in such an unassuming way that it is not even obvious how far along you've been pulled until you're deeply entrenched. The setting, the characters, the seen unseen, the suspense - it's all there! Some unexpected twists and turns totally have the power to astonish.
My Final Say: This book is just the beginning of something very special, I'm more than certain. I highly recommend it. Readers who are looking for a peculiar fantasy fiction read, this is the one. Let's go!

The thing I liked most about this book was the character development. The coward finds courage. The heartless assassin finds a heart. The selfish prince finds selflessness. It was almost like a Wizard of OZ retelling. But with fae and faeries.

i got access to this book through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. i honestly donβt know how to feel about this book. there is just too many characters and a very confusing plot. the world building is decent, and the characters individually were pretty good - they were detailed and pretty enjoyable. Elwyn was my favorite, she had a good story by herself and i like her little friend that talks in riddles. this book has promise, but it just doesnβt feel like the right book for me
