apparently this is a formula that works - victorian-ish world with fantastical elements where a woman is interested in academics/scholarly pursuits, but also there might be a mystery plot to uncover and we are reading their journals or memoirs. this one though was a little sad or bittersweet by the end - would say not quite in the cozy category that is popular right now, but also has a humor that works for me

2.5, kind of a 'meh' read. I hoped for more excitement I suppose, though it did pick up at the end. Maybe the next in the series will be more enjoyable...

I must say I was enchanted by this concept the first time I read about and to now finally having been able to read it was the smartest idea I had in a while (all thanks to my best friend who gifted me this book ..!!).

I truly enjoyed reading this mixture of Adventure-Journal and novel. It is wonderful to read and makes you yearn for more the second you put it away. And as a fellow dragon-mad I found wonder in all the details and habits you discover about dragons in the first book alone.

The comments from time to time from Lady Trent and the added sketches creating a charm itself which I can't find myself to resist. And the story was one of a kind, for one who has read as many books as myself was this storyline and the plot a written masterpiece.

I can't wait to get my hands on the following books!

This book was so cool! I loved the historical elements and the science elements and all the characters. The dragon science sounded so interesting, and I hope there’s more dragons in the next one.
