I actually really enjoyed the creative take the Twisted Sisters took on the tale of Aladdin. There’s great world building and I feel like we got to know the characters fairly well. It didn’t feel like any time had passed while reading, it’s such an immersive experience.
While this book has some similar writing styles to their other series, how they approached the story was quite different. They excel at using multiple POVs to tell the story, and the world building and history felt richer. Some parts were slower than others but that’s expected during the first book as we are introduced to everything.
My one dislike was just how fast and how much occurred during the last part of the book. We get our signature Twisted Sisters cliffhanger, or maybe cliffhangers in this case, but I felt a little overwhelmed. Maybe I need to reread the last few chapters so that it all sinks in. That’s probably it.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing where this story goes and I’m sure it’s going to be another hit.

Okay I did enjoy the book, it wasn’t bad by any means HOWEVER, at times it was hard for me to pick it up and continue. The ending picked up and was exciting.
It’s only the first book so I have hope for the next of the series, but I was a little disappointed. It felt sort of like Aladdin so I kept imagining that while reading.
I do LOVE kyra and can’t wait to see more of her. I’ll still read the series but this one was okay

this book had no business being as long as it was. i had high expectations and they went down the drain the very first chapter. boring, annoying ass characters idfc about how pretty drake is and his sex affinity, idfc about cassius and his weird ass obsession with austyn, idfc about woe is me austyn bitch is so fucking bland i literally forget what happens in her chapters the minute they end, idfc how evil magdor is, i do fucking care about kyra but im sorry baby its not enough for me to continue this series
the only reason i didnt dnf it is bcs i hate to dnf books and i wanted to read my dragon's pov for the scene that fucking reinvented me the first time i read it. ik i couldve read it at the start but i knew i wouldnt finish this book had i done that lmaoo so yea

God being the Bordeaux’s. The way the capture the personality of each character with their voice always amazes me. I cannot wait to see where this series goes.

Wow I do not even have words to describe how great this book was. I knew going into reading this it would be nothing short of amazing because everything these sisters touch is ‘gold’ but my expectations were surpassed and I need more now! This is not your traditional fairytale retelling. The twists of the story kept me guessing what was going to happen next. In true fantasy fashion the world/character building was so good. If you want to devour a book and love fantasy with humour this is your sign.
