Whenever I can’t find a book to listen to
I go to the Stephanie Plum series. They make me laugh and they are just a fun read. This one didn’t disappoint. The banter between the characters is just fun. If you haven’t read one of the books in the series pick one up

Stephanie Plum at Her Best!
I always enjoy the banter between Stephanie, Lula and Grandma Mazur. Add in Morelli and Ranger and it’s like the gang is all here. Such an enjoyable read.

This book was just okay. An easy read and a palette cleanser compared to the other mystery/thrillers I read.
I found just the comfort I needed in the pages of this Stephanie Plum book- number 29 in this series! How can that be?! No, I haven’t read all 29 books, but the ones I’ve gotten to have been in order. The characters are mostly the same, which makes this easy to jump into.
With an over 4 star rating and 11,000 reviews on @goodreads, I’m not the only one who needed this series to turn to for a few laughs and a visit with old friends.
About the book: “Stephanie Plum breaks the rules, flirts with disaster, and shows who’s boss in this “fast and fun” (Publishers Weekly) thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Janet Evanovich.”
Stephanie’s latest adventure is full of all you’d expect from this reliable series. Entertaining and such a great distraction with a few laughs along the way, the mystery is front and center in this particular installment, and Grandma Mazur and Lula are Stephanie’s sidekicks. If you know, you know.

I've loved the Stephanie Plum series since it started. Sometimes I just need a quick easy read that brings me joy. This is always a reliable series.
I'm not sure why I'm giving this book three stars, instead of two or one. It is probably a book somewhere between two and three stars. And I'm probably in that window where I haven't read a Stephanie Plum in a long time, and so the dialogue and repetitive action (how many times can you bring home a Pino's pizza and watch sports?) are less familiar. Or something.
There are always things to critique in Evanovich's books. The sexual tension with Ranger, for example. Cars blowing up. Viewings at the funeral home. In this book, Connie the Office Manager gets kidnapped, and Stephanie tries to handle it on her own. You have to think that a kidnapping (and there's a ransom call with photo evidence--it's not just someone taking an unauthorized day off) would cause the friends and family of the person kidnapped some genuine terror, and all the resources law enforcement would provide. But no--Stephanie and Lula keep 'forgetting' about Connie. That's not madcap antics--it's actually cruelty.
But why argue? If you've read one of the books, you know not to take them seriously. Think I'm taking a break until the designated last book of the series occurs.
