Enron is not just a story about numbers, it's a human tragedy.

I read this book with my mouth wide open. I am not the smartest cookie in the tub but I could not fathom how so many people allowed so many crimes to happen. Enron didn't just end with the ending of a business, it TRANSFORMED accounting laws and practices. It absolutely changed America's perception of our homegrown companies.

Captivating, absolutely fascinating story. This book was beyond throughly written. I had watched a few documentaries about Enron but none of them touched the NUMEROUS causes of Enron's crash like this book did. At times, the author tried to pinpoint which mistake led to the inevitable downfall of the company but that is an impossible task. Kurt also tried to find the main perpetrator behind Enron's demise and while many will debate that Andy Fastow is that person, I'd have to disagree. There isn't one Enron executive who is clean. I knew how the story was going to turn out and I was still captivated. Great book.

This was a fascinating book detailing the fall of Enron. It was truly sad to see how unbridled greed coupled with a reckless corporate culture lead to the fall of a once solid company.

Wow was this an amazing book. I cannot imagine the amount of effort that went into writing this and I'm not even going to pretend I understand everything that went on here (despite the author doing a kick-a job of explaining).
This story is so fascinating yet so terrifying. I did listen to this book and I will add that the reader was really quite good. So many moving parts here, so many lives impacted, so many countries and areas of industry involved.
This book is a commitment, it's not short, but if you are into this sort of thing at all (even if your not into accounting/economics) it's really worth your time. Written more like a story, than a documentary so you get to know the characters quite well and mostly end up hating them all. But there's a few innocents/good guys.

The entire story was incredibly captivating and I couldn't put the book down. Every time I thought there's no way these guys could get stupider, they'd make yet another decision that was clearly not going to be sustainable in the long run. Wow.

DNF (too long and detailed) but I was surprised at how engaging this book was. You don't really have to understand all the business jargon to get that what they did was crazy and bad!

This is an absolutely fantastic book. I didn't expect to like it, given the technical nature of the some of the financial transactions discussed but I decided to give it a try because I loved his book The Informant. The story is laid out in a readable, interesting kind of way and the facts are so unbelievable. I kept thinking "you can't make this stuff up."
