I read this book because my boyfriend read it for an Italian class and would not stop recommending it. It's different than what I normally read, but it was also so pleasant. The ending and certain parts of the book really made me happy. I was thinking about this book for days, and it was a really pleasant surprise.

There are a few things I didn't like about this book, and it's probably a cultural difference. The editing was poor. In the beginning there was a lot of redundancy. We never do find out who the killer was and nobody seems to care. Also, I don't think that the main character works that hard to get his client acquitted. He doesn't work too hard period. I do want to find out who he ends up with, his ex-wife Sara or his new neighbor.

I did like it, just not the way I expected to like it.

I went into the book thinking this would be concentrated on the legal side of things - How lawyers work , the legalities , their relationships with other lawyers, how they come up with things ,etc. The book had all that but, the majority of the book dealt with Guido's day to day life - struggles , people he meets, what he does, how he feels, his triumphs etc.

Yet, I liked it. I liked seeing how Guido went through his life.
Spoiler Early on in the book, his wife leaves him. It takes him a while , but he moves on. I liked that he finally had the closure with Sara and with her role in his life for 10 years
I loved the fact that it takes time for him to work on some of his issues. I kinda liked how he just winged stuff when he didnt know how to proceed in the court. All of them made him human , and made me like him even more.

Romanzo intrigante e anomalo di piacevole lettura. Forse eccessive e superflue nella vicenda alcune descrizioni della vita privata del protagonista.
