I was so excited about a new Setterfield novel! This didn't disappoint - what a fairy tale! Set on the Thames, it's a story about stories. The stories we tell ourselves, the stories we tell each other, and the stories we grew up believing. This novel was rich with details, characters, setting, and atmosphere. I adored it and can't wait until Setterfield publishes again.

This was a case of the right book at the right time for me. I loved the writing, how she wove everything together with the river and photography. I loved the storytelling aspects, the mythology of it, the pacing, especially the characters themselves, who had distinct, relatable voices. One of my favourite reads this year!

Could not finish this book. There is no story line other then a bunch of people in a bar retelling what happened to a little girl. This is the only book that I could not finish and I tried. I just didn't care to find out the rest of the story it was so boring.

I enjoyed the prose and mysterious atmosphere of the book. However, the story is very strange and confusing. There are too many point of views and the pacing of the book is too slow. Because I like the writing I'll probably try another book of this author.
